Self-medication functionality within the application provides visibility of medications but doesn't allow users to administer them. This feature is designed to ensure safety and compliance while giving individuals access to their medication details.
When using the Self-medication option, the system only displays the medication details. Users can't administer medication through this feature. Administration remains the responsibility of authorised personnel.
Self-medication on the MAR sheet
The expectation on the MAR sheet is that:
When you print the MAR sheet, the medication shows on the MAR chart.
As the system doesn't record self-administration, these medications appear as 'Not given by facility'.
Ensure accurate information on the MAR sheet
To make sure the MAR sheet reflects correct details:
Add relevant notes in the Order Notes section. These notes appear on the MAR sheet, providing clarity about self-medication status.
Always review the MAR sheet after adding notes to confirm that the information is accurate and complete. This helps maintain transparency and compliance with medication management policies.
