PRN orders settings

In this article, we explain how to set up and customise PRN order behaviour.

PRN medications need special settings to make sure theyโ€™re shown and managed correctly during medication rounds. You can change how PRN orders behave in the system by updating the settings in Care Home Settings.

To configure PRN order settings, follow these steps:

  1. Click Admin, then click Settings.

  2. Click Care Home Settings.

  3. Click Medication round Customization.

  4. In the PRN section, select the checkboxes and complete the required fields:

    • Always Show PRN: If selected, PRNs always show in all med rounds.

    • Default PRN Follow-up: Sets the default time for PRN follow-ups.

    • Exclude PRN Follow-ups from the Alerts window: Removes PRN follow-ups from alerts so only scheduled meds show.

    • Enable PRN pass: Creates a separate PRN med round that only shows PRN orders.

    • Allow user to record an Exception for a PRN: Lets users record an exception for PRN orders.

  5. Click Save.
