When recording medication exceptions, you can control how they affect inventory. Incorrect settings can cause the system to reduce stock by too much or too little. If the inventory decreases by more than expected, it’s often due to an exception setting like Record Drug Disposal being enabled.

To check how the inventory is affected, follow these steps:

  1. Click Admin.

  2. Click Settings, then click Drop-down Menus.

  3. Click Exceptions.

  4. Review the list of exceptions. You’ll see:

    • Exception names.

    • What they apply to.

    • Schedule type.

    • Additional settings.

  5. Click on the exception name that decreases inventory too much. Usually this is Resident Refused & Wasted.

  6. Under Additional Settings, select the necessary checkboxes for applicable settings.

    • Clear the Record Drug Disposal checkbox if it's currently selected.

      • If selected, it doubles the inventory decrease and shows as Disposal in the Inventory Log.

  7. To save changes, click the green checkmark icon.
