The review/approve process ensures that medication orders can’t be administered during the medication round until they’ve been reviewed and approved. This adds an extra layer of safety and compliance to medication management.
⚠️ Important: Always confirm which settings apply to your organisation’s workflow before enabling this feature. Incorrect configuration can lead to delays in medication administration.
To enable the review/approve process, follow these steps:
Click Admin.
Click Settings, then click Care Home Settings.
Click Order Management.
Within the Review/Approve Meds section, select or clear the necessary checkboxes.

Review/Approve Meds settings explained
Within the Review/Approve Meds section, you need to select or clear the necessary checkboxes to enable appropriate settings. For more information on each setting, use our table:
Enable order review | Turns on the review/approve function. |
Allow non-reviewed orders to be administered (new orders) or stopped (DC orders). | Lets medication orders be administered or discontinued without a second user reviewing the information. |
Only allow reviewed orders to be administered (new orders) or stopped (DC orders) | Requires a second user to approve the order before it can be administered or discontinued. |
Allow after | Orders need a second user’s approval before administration or discontinuation, but after a set time they become available automatically. |
Review (meds) | Applies the review settings to medications. |
Review (treatments) | Applies the review settings to treatments. |
Review (vitals) | Applies the review settings to vitals. |
Flag new manually-entered orders for review | Enables review/approve for manually entered orders. |
Entered manually by pharmacy | Applies review/approve to orders entered manually by the pharmacy. |
Entered manually by care home users | Applies review/approve to orders entered manually by care home staff. |
Disable approve in Med Round | Prevents users from approving/reviewing orders within the Med Round screen. |
