Suspend orders

In this article, we explain how to suspend one or more medication orders and how to end the suspension early if needed.

The suspend orders feature lets you temporarily stop a medication order from appearing in the medication round. This is useful when a resident’s medication needs to be paused for a short period without fully discontinuing the order.

To suspend an order, follow these steps:

  1. Click Resident/Orders.

  2. Click on the resident's name.

  3. Click Orders, then click Suspend/Hold and choose appropriately:

    • To suspend a single medication, select the medication.

    • To suspend all medications, click Suspend all orders for this resident.

    • To suspend multiple medications, click Multiple Orders and select the orders from the list.

  4. Enter the Start Date and Time and End Date and Time for the suspension.

  5. In the Note field, type a reason for the suspension.

  6. Click Save.

    • The medication shows with an orange tag labelled 'Suspended'.
