The drug disposal area is used to record the disposal or return of inventory for any item, such as discontinued, dropped, or spilled medication. The system doesn’t automatically account for medication lost in a syringe or pot during administration, as it can’t predict the amount. However, you can record this manually by creating a drug disposal. This process makes sure your stock records stay accurate and compliant.
To perform a drug disposal, follow these steps:
Click Drug disposal.
The drug disposal process requires a witness. The witness should enter their username and password, then click OK.
From the Resident list, click the resident you want to complete a disposal for.
From the Medication list, click the medication you want to record disposal for.
The selected medication shows with an orange banner, and the bottom of the screen becomes active.
Check the Disposal date and time.
Enter a method.
Enter a reason.
Enter the quantity to dispose of.
Type an appropriate comment.
Review and complete all other fields.
Click Save and the medication appears in the Disposed meds summary at the bottom of the screen.
