Barcode scanning is key for accurate medication management, but errors can occur. These may be due to hardware faults, poor barcode quality, incorrect scanning practices, or system data issues.

Common error messages

There are a few common error messages you may encounter, such as:

  • Invalid Barcode(s) in MedRound.

  • Unrecognised Barcode in Monthly Check-In / Interim Check-In / Drug Disposal.

Why barcodes aren't recognised

There are several reasons why the barcodes may not be recognised. These include:

  • The wrong item has been scanned.

  • The barcode on the item packaging has been scanned instead of the barcode on the dispensing label.

  • New data containing a recent barcode has been rejected.

  • If all the above have been ruled out and the issue persists, the store may have provided an incorrect barcode.
